MILLERSVILLE, Md. (AP) — The man accused of shooting at drivers in Maryland and at a National Security Agency building told police he was hearing voices.

Charging documents provided by Anne Arundel County Police say 35-year-old Hong Young told officers the voices told him to shoot at a random driver last week.

Young was charged with attempted murder and assault for a Feb. 24 shooting that injured a 61-year-old man near Arundel Mills mall.

The shooting was the first in a string of them reported in central Maryland in the past week. Neighboring police departments launched a large-scale manhunt, which ended Tuesday night when Young was arrested at Arundel Mills mall.

Court documents show Young had recently filed for divorce. He is a former corrections officer.
