House Speaker John Boehner says he plans to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint meeting of Congress.

Netanyahu is visiting the United States next month. Boehner says he'll make the invitation after Congress approves a resolution for a joint meeting of the House and Senate.

Netanyahu last spoke to a joint meeting of Congress in July 1996.

Boehner says the U.S. and Israel are the closest of allies and that members of Congress want to hear Netanyahu's views on that relationship.
