It was a terrifying scene on the first day of March in Louisville, Kentucky, where a driver had to be rescued from a semi truck dangling over the edge of the Clark Memorial Bridge. Another driver, who is charged with causing the incident, was in court Wednesday, where harrowing dashcam video of the whole thing was shown, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. Trevor Branham, 33, allegedly swerved to avoid colliding with a stalled vehicle while crossing the bridge—only to veer into oncoming traffic and hit the tractor-trailer instead. The driver can be seen on the video losing control of the semi, which crosses the opposing lanes of traffic and goes over the edge of the bridge. The bridge beam kept it suspended so it didn't plunge into the river below.

The semi driver was rescued with non-life-threatening injuries. As for Branham, police argue he drove recklessly before the crash, and they also say he was driving on a suspended license. He's been charged with that, plus four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The driver of the stalled vehicle told her story to WHAS 11 back in March (she was driving an EV she'd just purchased from Carvana, which she says was faulty and died without warning on the bridge—she had her emergency flashers on and had alerted police to the situation when Branham allegedly didn't see her in time). The semi driver told her story to the station more recently. She spent 40 minutes dangling above the river, her foot still on the truck's air brake, before she was pulled out the window and pulled back up to the bridge via a harness and rope.
