The gunman who stormed a Johns Hopkins Hospital building today, critically wounding a doctor, has killed himself and his mother, sources tell the Baltimore Sun. The man had barricaded himself in a room on the eighth floor as Baltimore police swarmed and began locking down the area. "I started running," said one nurse. "When you hear gunshots you run." The doctor's wounds are not life-threatening, a police department rep said: "The doctor is going to be OK."
Sources tell the Sun the man was upset about the care his mother had received at the facility, where she underwent spinal surgery, and had initially threatened to jump. Neither he nor the doctor have yet been identified, though the shooter is described as a man in his 30s. (More Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions stories.)
