Considering the wild popularity of Dancing With the Stars, it was inevitable: Skating With the Stars is here … though, in some cases, the word “star” is debatable. The first batch of competitors on the new ABC show includes Blade Runner’s Sean Young, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil, Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel, Olympic gold-medal skier Jonny Moseley, soap star Rebecca Budig, and Disney star Brandon Smith. Judges include skating champs Dick Button and Johnny Weir.
Like the network’s DWTS, SWTS will pair celebrities with skating pros, but unlike DWTS, these celebs “have to already know some moves,” a producer says. The show premieres Nov. 22—after DWTS’ season performance finale. Seems like a recipe for success, until you consider the fact that Fox’s similar effort, Skating With Celebrities, was canceled after one season, USA Today notes. Jezebel’s prediction: “Someone is going to suffer a concussion.” New York's: “copious black-and-blue marks.”
