If the Republican Party is going to block a bill offering medical help to 9/11 first responders, it should stop exploiting 9/11 for political ends, Jon Stewart complains. Senate Republicans are also blocking the DREAM Act and Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal, but "since when does the Republican Party make 9/11 first responders stand over in the corner with gays and Mexicans?" the Daily Show host asked incredulously.
Since the GOP isn't backing the "Least We Can Do/No-Brainer Act of 2010," Stewart says, its "we're the only party that understands 9/11 and its repercussions monopoly" is over. "No more co-opting 9/11 imagery to get yourselves elected. No more using 9/11 as the date when magically, all your policies became right." Republicans have used 9/11 so much, Stewart says, "that if you don't owe the 9/11 responders health care, at least you owe them royalties."
