An environmental watchdog group says two versions of plastic Disney shopping bags go way over the federal limit for lead in kids' products. The Center for Environmental Health tested the reusable Toys Story and Cars bags sold by Safeway—the chain says the bags are no longer for sale—and found them to be 15 times greater than allowable limits, reports the Mother Nature Network. It's sent out legal notices, and Disney says it's looking into the claims with the producer of the bags. Click to see a photo of them.
"With a company that has the resources that Disney has, they should be a leader" in kids' safety, said a CEH spokesman. "If you're using this as a shopping bag, food's going in there—lead can rub off on the food," he said. "Kids might use it for carrying their toys, (and) lead can come off onto their hands.
