Stewart: Call That a Sputnik Moment?

Daily Show host offers his take on State of the Union

Jon Stewart found plenty to poke fun at in President Obama's State of the Union address—and the rebuttals. The Daily Show host homed in on Obama's "Night of Too Many Promises," specifically the president's claim that now is a "Sputnik moment." "I'm with you!" said Stewart. "Where are we going—the moon? Mars? Pluto? Pandora, for their reserves of delicious Unobtainium?" Er, no. Obama's looking for advancements in wireless access, electric vehicles, and high-speed rail networks.

"Their Sputnik moment was 'We have 10 years to reach the moon' and ours is, 'We have 25 years to make sure 80% of us live near somewhat faster trains?'" Stewart asks.
