Parents Sue Facebook Over Photo of Murdered Daughter

Ronald and Marti Wimmer don't want money from Facebook, they want the site to delete the gruesome photo that an EMT took of their murdered daughter and shared online. The parents have filed a lawsuit calling for Facebook to turn over the photo, destroy the images in its possession, identify those who downloaded it, and cooperate with victims' families in future, AOL reports. Facebook says it will fight the suit vigorously.

The New York City EMT involved lost his job and was sentenced to community service. "I haven't had a chance to heal yet," Marti Wimmer says. The EMT "only got 200 hours of community service, and my daughter's picture is somewhere on the Internet and nobody can get it back to me." Their daughter was killed two years ago by a man enraged by rumors posted on her MySpace page. He is now serving a 25-years-to-life sentence. (More murder stories.)
