Republicans trying to woo conservative Iowans are likely to find Michele Bachmann a hard act to follow. The Minnesotan, speaking to a conservative group last night, slammed "liberal policies" on abortion, same-sex marriage, and health care reform, the Des Moines Register reports. She labeled Planned Parenthood the "LensCrafters of big abortion" and called judges who support gay marriage "black-robed masters." Judges "are not our masters," she said. "They are not our morality. They are not put there to make the decisions."
Bachmann said she was deeply disappointed that her fellow House Republicans had reached a budget deal with President Obama instead of seizing the opportunity to "defund the left." She slammed the Department of Education, "along with a few other agencies, by the way, that I think we can live without," reports Politico. She told reporters afterward that the other government agencies she would like to see abolished include the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. (More Department of Education stories.)
