As you may have heard, Christian group Family Radio is going around warning the country that Christ is returning on May 21, 2011. "Folks, this means there are only 11 shopping days until there are no shopping days," noted Stephen Colbert last night. Colbert likes this particular End Times prophecy because it's "homegrown," unlike that whole Mayan 2012 thing: "It's the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, not the Four Jorges of the Apocalypse."
And it's gotta be for real, Colbert pointed out, because the Family Radio leader "is an expert at predicting the end of the world, in that he's done it before." Of course, that time around, the world did not end on September 4, 1994. But "in his defense, that was the year the first Hootie & the Blowfish album came out. I think we all prayed the end was near." Also last night, Colbert revealed that he and his staff clearly love Newser. Watch the second video for proof. (More Stephen Colbert stories.)
