Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver split up after she found out that he had fathered a child with a long-time member of their household staff more than a decade ago, the Los Angeles Times reveals. Shriver moved out of the couple's home after Schwarzenegger acknowledged the child was his. The staff member continued to work for the couple until earlier this year.
"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said in a statement issued to the newspaper. "I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children, and my family. I am truly sorry." Click to read Maria Shriver's statement, or to read about the identity of the other woman, as per Radar.
