Casey Anthony’s lawyer is sure she’s telling the truth about Caylee. He believed her story “from the first time I met her,” he told the Today show. “She did not kill her child. Period.’’ Still, Cheney Mason sees a rocky road ahead for Anthony, saying of her relationship with her parents: “I don’t know that anything is ever beyond repair, but I would say odds are pretty strong that it is,” he said. Though she may reconcile with her brother, “I think with her parents, that’s pretty well burned.”
The immediate concern is Anthony’s safety. “I don’t know” where she’ll go, “and if I did, I wouldn’t tell you,” Mason said. But she shouldn’t leave the country over safety fears. “It’s as much her country as anybody else’s. She just needs to have some time and counseling and be re-introduced to society. She’s been in lockdown for 23 hours a day for three years.’’ And what about that rude gesture he made? It was aimed at “one particular stalker” of the defense team, he noted. “That little non-human person deserved what he got.” (More Casey Anthony stories.)
