Upstart George Mason had the advantage over No. 18 Kansas State from the beginning of last night's game, and held on to win 87-77, reports AP. John Vaughn, with 21 points, was just one of five starters scoring in the double digits as George Mason improved to 4-0 for the first time ever. On other college courts:

  • No. 14 Gonzaga just managed to keep Western Kentucky at bay, 74-71, to improve to 4-0 in the Great Alaska Shootout.
  • A youthful Villanova team scraped out a 76-68 win over the University of Central Florida in the Old Spice Classic.
  • Defense had its day in a 63-41 blowout of Chattanooga by Southern Illinois.
