A gunman at a Texas roller rink birthday party last night killed five people and injured at least four before turning the gun on himself, reports the Dallas Morning News. Police say the man started arguing with his wife, and when the conflict grew more heated, he pulled out a pistol and began firing. "This was a domestic situation that went south in a hurry," a police spokesman tells Reuters. "The shooting lasted only seconds."
The gunman was the person who rented the rink for a child's birthday party, according to several witnesses, and all the people inside were part of the private event. Police say the victims were all Vietnamese, and none were children though some may have been teens. “I saw family coming across the street looking panicked,” says a man who was standing close to the rink when the shooting happened. “They had children along with some adults. You could tell there was a sense of urgency and panic in their eyes." (More shooting rampage stories.)
