US / William Adams Texas Beating Judge Suspended Attorney files complaint against William Adams for dismissing abuse accusation By Mary Papenfuss, Newser Staff Posted Nov 23, 2011 1:21 AM CST Copied Judge William Adams appears this week outside a Texas court where he's fighting for visitation rights with his 10-year-old daughter. (AP Photo/Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Michael Zamora) A Texas judge whose videotaped beating of his daughter went viral has been suspended from the bench. William Adams was ordered suspended immediately with pay until the outcome of an inquiry begun earlier this month by the State Commission on Judicial Ethics, reports AP. Williams opted earlier to take a personal leave after footage of him savagely beating his daughter with a belt emerged on YouTube this month. In a related development, an attorney who represented a mom in a custody case before the judge last year has filed a complaint against Adams. He claims Adams dismissed out of hand as "fantasy" claims by the child that she was being abused by her primary caregiver, reports KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi. (More William Adams stories.)
