Kanye West and Amy Winehouse lead the field in Grammy Award nominations, announced today. West scored eight nods, but only Winehouse and the Foo Fighters landed in both the record-of-the-year and album-of-the-year categories, AP reports. It's been a tough go lately for West and Winehouse (six nominations): The rapper's mother died Nov. 10 after plastic surgery; Winehouse and her husband have had legal issues.
Vince Gill and Herbie Hancock joined West, Winehouse, and the Foos in the top-album category. Winehouse's Rehab is up for top record against Beyonce's Irreplaceable, the Foo Fighter's The Pretender, Rihanna's Umbrella and What Goes Around Comes Around by Justin Timberlake. "This is a true validation from people I respect and admire," Winehouse told Usmagazine.com. Winners will be announced Feb. 10. (More Grammy Awards stories.)
