Sen. Charles Grassley is in hot water today after a tweet Saturday in which the Iowa Republican called President Obama stupid. "Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley tweeted. CNN notes that Grassley has long been quite vocal in his criticism of Obama, and this time around he was apparently upset at Obama's comments on the possibility of the "unelected" Supreme Court overturning ObamaCare. Obama's senior campaign strategist David Axelrod was quick to respond.
"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod tweeted. (Grassley's Twitter account actually was hacked in January.) But Iowa's Republican governor is on Grassley's side: Terry Branstad said today that he also found Obama's statement "outlandish," the Des Moines Register reports. Interestingly, just last week the Legal Times blog published an interview with Grassley in which he addressed his Twitter style, which has gained attention over its strange punctuation and spelling. "I love tweeting, but I don’t like to type," he explained. "So, I probably type and hit send a little too quickly." (More Charles Grassley stories.)
