Crime / James Holmes Holmes Sent Massacre Plans to Psychiatrist: Report It apparently sat unopened in mailroom until after the killings, says Fox News By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Jul 25, 2012 12:21 PM CDT Copied James Holmes appears in Arapahoe County District Court with defense attorney Tamara Brady in this file photo. (AP Photo/Denver Post, RJ Sangosti, Pool, File) Police say James Holmes planned his Colorado massacre months in advance, and a new report from Fox News suggests that he sent a notebook with details to a psychiatrist ahead of time. Unfortunately, it wasn't discovered until Monday—it apparently sat unopened in a mailroom at the University of Colorado for about a week. "Inside the package was a notebook full of details about how he was going to kill people," a source tells Fox. "There were drawings of what he was going to do in it—drawings and illustrations of the massacre." It remains unclear why Holmes would have sent the notebook to the psychiatrist in question; he wasn't necessarily a patient, though he could have met the psychiatrist during his stint as a student in the university's neurosciences program.
