Rodney King's cause of death is listed as drowning—but PCP, cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol also played a role, his death report says. "In a state of drug and alcohol induced delirium," King fell or jumped into the pool where he drowned, the report says. "The effects of the drugs and alcohol," plus a heart condition, "probably precipitated a cardiac arrhythmia and (King), thus incapacitated, was unable to save himself and drowned."
Word of drug use had emerged earlier. A collection of unusual objects, including a pitchfork, hoe, and vacuum pool sweeper, were all in the pool; King's girlfriend, who said she couldn't swim well, had used them in an unsuccessful attempt to pull him out, TMZ reports. (More Rodney King stories.)
