Ann Coulter must have been feeling ignored, because she's dropped a bomb that's managed to anger even her fellow conservatives. Last night after live-tweeting the debate, Coulter posted, "I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard." Among her critics: Michelle Malkin, who tweeted, "What a stupid, shallow thing to say, Ann." Malkin's Twitter site, Twitchy, rounded up some of the negative backlash and noted, "She sure doesn't speak for us." More reactions, from Twitchy and the Hollywood Reporter:

  • Comedian Patton Oswalt: "Ann Coulter died of prostate cancer in 2002. Her Twitter account's a sentient emu skeleton with a swatch of eyelid skin stretched over it." He later added, "If Ann Coulter's calling the President a 'retard' it means he won/is going to win. She's our un-pettable Punxsutawney Phil."
  • Model Chrissy Teigen: "not ever shocked by @anncoulter. my bar for her is set so low that it is, ironically, in the depths of hell."
  • Modern Family exec producer Danny Zuker: "Local news is reporting on a fatal ballooning accident and tragically neither victim was Ann Coulter."
  • Actress Marlee Matlin: "Despite our differences, it's NOT ok to use 'R' word. Consider millions of developmentally challenged Americans. It's just UNBELIEVABLE."
This isn't Coulter's first time out with the word, either. (More Ann Coulter stories.)
