The Fail Whale.   (Twitter)

"RIP Fail Whale." That was Twitter creative honcho Doug Bowman's pithy response after the site rolled smoothly through last night's election, reports AllThingsD. Even record traffic, cresting at 327,452 tweets per minute, didn't overload Twitter and force it to post the smiling whale—seen on those occasions when the service is down. Last night also marked the site's most-retweeted message ever, with 668,000 retweets and counting: "Four more years," by President Obama, knocked the most-retweeted crown from Justin Bieber's shiny head, reports Mediabistro.
