A Colorado Springs man has been arrested on suspicion of sending harassing emails to a state lawmaker, including one that said, "Hopefully somebody Gifords [sic] both of your asses with a gun." State Rep. Rhonda Fields, who represents Aurora and whose son was shot and killed in 2005 as he waited to testify against a gang member, is sponsoring two of Colorado's gun control bills. Franklin Glenn Sain, 42, admitted to sending the emails, which also included racially and sexually derogatory words, the Denver Post reports. He also left Fields profanity-filled voicemails.
Sain is also believed to have sent an unsigned letter to Fields including the threats, "I keep my 30 Round Magazines There Will Be Blood! I'm Coming For You!" and "Death to Both," referring to Fields and her daughter. Sain, COO of an IT consulting service, told police he was "just voicing some frustrations" at the gun control bills, but admitted he "used a term I probably shouldn't have" and said he would apologize. He denied threatening Fields. In addition to harassment, he may also face charges of unlawfully attempting to influence a public official. (More Aurora, Colorado stories.)
