A Georgia woman has been reunited with the camera she lost during a 2007 trip to Hawaii, which, amazingly, washed ashore in Taiwan. Lindsay Scallan says she was on a scuba diving trip when she lost her camera during a night dive. As CBS Atlanta reports, she had forgotten about the camera, until a high school friend messaged her on Facebook to say his wife found an article about a lost camera and thought it might be about Scallan.
Scallan says a China Airlines employee found the camera; all the images were still on the memory card. He "got in touch with Hawaiian officials to see if they could help find who the owner was, the mystery blond woman as they called it," says Scallan, and a Hawaii TV station posted a story about it online. The airline has offered to pay for Scallan to travel to Taiwan to retrieve it and meet the man who found it. Scallan calls the experience social media at its best. (More Hawaii stories.)
