Atlanta handed the Red Wings their second straight loss last night, as the Thrashers romped to a 5-1 victory, the Detroit Free press reports. Marian Hossa had his seventh career hat trick for Atlanta, increasing his clout on the free agent market with the trade deadline approaching. The victory marks the Thrashers first in Detroit since the team's inception.

Detroit goalie Chris Osgood, hampered by shoddy play from his defensemen, gave up four goals on 17 shots. He was yanked for Dominik Hasek, seeing action for the first time since 2006, midway through the second period. Eric Perrin and Slava Kozlov had Atlanta's other two goals, while Niklas Kronwall had the lone Wings' score late in the third. (More NHL stories.)
