The 87-year-old competition is going for a hip new look and feel, adding doses of blue jeans and reality TV to draw in younger viewers, AP reports. Tiaras still perched on well-coifed heads, and ball gowns still shimmered on the Las Vegas stage, but Haglund and her runners-up sported trendier (and racier) styles and struck sassier poses than in years past. TLC, which aired the show, premiered the series "Miss America: Reality Check" and introduced fan voting in one stage of the competition. (More Miss America stories.) Report an error
