Dallas used 70% shooting to outscore Memphis by 14 in the first quarter and then coasted, winning 103-84. Josh Howard made his first eight shots as part of the early barrage and totaled 26 points, reports AP. Dirk Nowitzki had 20 for the Mavs who have won 12 of 14 overall and 13 consecutive games over lowly Memphis, now 13-32.

The lead grew to 29 at one point as Dallas controlled the inside game in both points and rebounding. The Mavs' shooting touch did cool later on, but they still managed 54% for the game. Memphis' star Pau Gasol returned from injury to score 13 points while teammate Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies with a mere 18. (More NBA stories.)
