The California Highway Patrol is taking flak over a much-trafficked cellphone video that shows an unidentified officer repeatedly punching a woman on the ground by a Los Angeles freeway, reports AP. A passing motorist filmed the incident and passed it on to media outlets. The woman had been walking along Interstate 10 when the officer approached to make her stop. A struggle ensued, and she ended up on her back as he punched her in the head and shoulder area. It ended when another officer arrived. CHP officials promise an investigation, reports KTLA. The officer is on administrative leave, and the woman was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. (More California Highway Patrol stories.)
