Last Valentine’s Day, New York City unveiled the “NYC Condom,” a free prophylactic designed to make safe sex cool. Today, the program gets a facelift with new packing for the condom—and an ad campaign that urges New Yorkers to "get some." “Good design can help bring condoms out of the closet,” the man behind the new look tells MyFox New York.
“The NYC condom has shown us what a sexy brand can do for safe sex,” said a health department official. “We gave out 36 million of them last year.” It probably helps that the condoms are free and accessible—any establishment in the city can order them. If that’s not enough, street teams will be out today giving them to would-be lovers. (More safe sex stories.)
