Israel says one of the Palestinian men responsible for kidnapping and murdering three Israeli teens has been killed, and another suspect seriously wounded. Both were Hamas operatives, the Israeli military said today, adding that they opened fire on security forces, which fired back, killing one and injuring the other. Hundreds of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles had surrounded a house in Hebron this morning, and gunfire broke out an hour later, CNN reports. "We were determined in bringing the ruthless murderers of Gilad [Shaar], Eyal [Yifrach], and Naftali [Fraenkel] to justice," said a military spokesman. "Today's successful mission brings the long-term search to an end, and the perpetrators of the crime no longer pose a threat to Israeli civilians." (More Israel stories.)
