The warning labels on cigarette packets don't say "Beware: This product may cause you to run over your own head," but that's what happened to a man in Aurora, Colo., yesterday. According to KUSA, the luckless man dropped a lit cigarette down the front of his jacket while he was backing his van out of his driveway, jumped out of the vehicle to try to shake it out, then was knocked down by the rolling vehicle.
The van's front driver's side tire rolled over the man's head and he is now in critical condition in the hospital. He is expected to survive, and a relative who was in the passenger seat was unharmed. Police, who say alcohol was not a factor in the accident, issued a statement reminding drivers of the "dangers of distractions" like smoking, reports the Denver Post. (In another bizarre accident, a Chicago woman was killed by a falling gargoyle last month.)
