(AP Photo/Molly Riley) There's a Texas Republican gunning for John Boehner's gavel: Rep. Louie Gohmert today announced his intention to unseat Boehner as speaker of the House, citing "years of broken promises" in telling Fox that "I’m putting my name out there today to be another candidate." Speaking of Boehner, Gohmert charged that "You deceived us when you went to (President) Obama and (Nancy) Pelosi to get your votes for the cromnibus. You said you’d fight amnesty tooth an nail. You didn’t, you funded it." As the Hill reports, there's at least a little dissent on the far right: Florida Rep. Ted Yolo yesterday said he wouldn't support Boehner, citing the November election as Americans having "resoundingly rejected the status quo." And FreedomWorks honcho Matt Kibbe echoed the call for fresh blood "that better represents the views of the whole caucus." (More John Boehner stories.) Report an error
