A Michigan couple made it to the Kalamazoo County Courhouse yesterday despite some nasty weather for a good reason: Dean Lauer and Carrie Stull were getting married. Problem: The courthouse was closed, thanks to that nasty weather, reports WWMT. Not knowing what to do, the wedding party entered the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and explained their predicament to an officer who asked what was going on. As it turns out, KDPS Officer Joe Paul is certified to marry couples in Michigan—and he did so before his 3pm shift, reports MLive.

"As we often respond to crisis, we quickly arranged for Mr. Lauer and Ms. Stull to get married in the Chief's conference room," says a KDPS release. "Congratulations from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety to the newly married couple." (More uplifting news stories.)
