This year's Emmy host is an Emmy winner himself, though Saturday Night Live alumnus Andy Samberg may decide against reprising award-winning song "Dick in a Box" at the Sept. 20 awards show. This will be the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star's first time hosting a big TV event, according to the Hollywood Reporter, but Fox execs, describing him as "fearless, hilarious, an award-winning comedian, singer, writer, and actor with incredible live TV experience," say he's the first person who came to mind when the subject of this year's host was brought up. This year's nominations will be announced on July 16, reports Variety.
"Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers!" Samberg said in a statement. "Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts." (More Andy Samberg stories.)
