Sometimes taking a shower can leave you feeling like a new person. In the case of Brittany Young, taking a shower left her with a new person. As the Des Moines Register reports, the 24-year-old didn't think much of her stomach pains last Wednesday; she was early in her fourth pregnancy, so she took some Tylenol and lay down. Problem solved. That evening, the pain came back, so, "I got in the shower, not even five minutes after that, I was like, my stomach is still hurting. Not even five seconds (later), I had to push," Young says. And after a single push, she was eye-to-eye with her full-term, 6 lb., 8 oz. daughter, named Miracle.
"This baby's eyes were open; she was just sitting there staring at me. She didn't cry or anything," Young says. "I was in shock. I was like, there's a baby here." Young had moved to Des Moines a few months ago; a trip to the hospital for a broken nose revealed the pregnancy. She says a tech told her "12 weeks," which she took to mean as the number of weeks she was into the pregnancy; she now thinks that was the number of weeks remaining. "For women with three prior pregnancies, labor is pretty quick anyway. Sounds like hers was even quicker," a doctor tells the Register. (This happens a lot more often than one would think.)
