Robert Durst has been in the news a lot lately as the real estate heir accused of murder. Fred Durst is famous as the lead singer of Limp Bizkit. And thus we arrive at why the AP wins today's "correction of the day" honors in the eyes of Salon:

  • "In the second item of the California 10th NewsMinute sent March 16 to users of the state broadcast wire, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band. He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is the former frontman of Limp Bizkit. "

The correction was first reported at media blog JimRomenesko.com, which also has the original item that prompted the misfire. That police-blotter item from Louisiana says that Durst the murder suspect had been booked on weapons charges. It goes on to say that a trooper "told the Associated Press that an arrest warrant was issued for the former Limp Bizkit frontman and he was rebooked in the Orleans Parish Jail."
