A Manhattan woman who often posted photos on social media that showed her hanging out and drinking on her fire escape or roof fell to her death from her fire escape early this morning, the New York Daily News reports. Kasey Jones, 26, who witnesses say had been drinking with friends, fell five stories into her building's courtyard when she tried to navigate down the fire escape, the paper says. Her death came just one week after she posted a particularly vertigo-inducing image on Instagram of her feet dangling over the edge of her building, with the caption "Foot's eye view." One of her friends posted a concerned note that said, "It scares the bejesus outta me whenever you post these 'casually leaning over the edge' pics," to which Jones replied, "well I have a lot of whiskey to help me out."
Jones, a barista at a local coffee shop, apparently enjoyed drinking from the precarious perches of her building, occasionally posting images with captions like "Sometimes the rooftop wins over any club or bar" or using the hashtag #rooftopshenanigans to show friends hanging out on the edge. "I used to climb the fire escape too. It's very slippery when wet," Frances Guerrero tells the New York Post. "There are sometimes liquor bottle on the roof. When you are inebriated, you don't use your head." (In-the-air selfies likely caused a fatal plane crash.)
