John McCain started to lose his temper with a New York Times reporter yesterday after being asked about John Kerry, ABC reports. McCain said there was no chance he would choose his friend Kerry for a running mate because of their "vastly different" views. He got testy when asked about a 2004 conversation where Kerry reportedly put the idea of Kerry-McCain to him.
The reporter asked McCain about an interview where he denied the Kerry conversation. "Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that," McCain told her. "And you know it too. You know it." The heated back-and forth went on for around two minutes. McCain, dubbed "Senator Hothead" by colleagues, calmed down when the subject changed. (More John McCain stories.)
