Celebrities need thick skin on social media these days, but James Woods will settle for $10 million instead. The actor is suing a Twitter user who goes by "Abe List" for that amount because AL tweeted that Woods is a "cocaine addict," reports the Hollywood Reporter. "Woods is not now, nor has he even been a cocaine addict, and AL had no reason to believe otherwise," says the court filing. It states that the tweet went out to thousands of AL's followers and "hundreds of thousands" of Woods' followers and thus damaged the 68-year-old's reputation.
What's unclear is whether Twitter will cooperate with the lawsuit and reveal the identity of AL, whose account has been deleted, reports E! Online. The big hurdle faced by Woods will be proving actual malice because he's a public figure, notes THR. Both sites note that it's unclear whether Woods tried to block his frequent nemesis or file an abuse complaint with Twitter before lawyering up. (More Twitter stories.)
