"Stupid." That's how Busta Rhymes describes the circumstances around his arrest and charge of second-degree assault yesterday after a spat at a Manhattan gym. Rhymes, born Trevor Smith, visited Steel Gym around 8:30pm and argued with a front desk employee, a witness tells the New York Daily News. The pair reportedly threw water at each other before police say the 43-year-old rapper threw a protein drink in a cardboard container at the back of the man's head. The victim was cut, but declined medical help, police tell NBC New York.
The witness says the pair had also argued a day earlier when the worker refused to let a cameraman inside the gym to film Rhymes' workout. The rapper's lawyer says the case is "a bunch of bull" and adds he's confident Rhymes will be cleared. "This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta. He did nothing wrong," he says. "It was literally a bottle of Muscle Milk." Rhymes is due in court on Nov. 6. In an Instagram post after the incident, the rapper said he was "heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bullshit into GREATNESS." (More Busta Rhymes stories.)
