Camerawoman Who Tripped Refugee: I'll Sue Him

If you don't remember Petra Laszlo by name, you probably remember the viral footage of her tripping a Syrian refugee carrying his young son in his arms. Well, you're about to hear Laszlo's name a lot more. Once her criminal trial for breaching the peace wraps up, the ex-camerawoman plans to sue the refugee, Osama Abdul Mohsen, because he initially blamed the Sept. 8 encounter on police but has since "changed his testimony," she tells Russian newspaper Izvestia, per Mashable. Laszlo won't stop there. She also plans to sue Facebook, which she says has removed groups that support her, while those that threaten her remain.

Weirdly, Laszlo—who earlier said she was only defending herself when refugees broke through a barrier near the village of Roszke—appears to shrug off any claim that the lawsuits are actually her idea. "My husband wants to prove my innocence. For him, it is now a matter of honor," she says, per Sky News. She adds the pair are now considering moving to Russia. "We think that we will begin to learn Russian," she says. "For us it is important to leave Hungary. We will decide after the trial." (Mohsen has been doing pretty well since that trip.)
