Bankrate looked at 18 of the biggest metropolitan areas in the country—and even a Bankrate financial analyst was surprised at how they ranked. "I would have thought that San Francisco would have been higher on the list," considering the tech boom, but instead it ranked as No. 13. Here are the top 8:
