Should Gwyneth be offended?

Chris Martin was apparently not in a great state of mind during the last couple years of his marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow, which ended last year. "A few years ago I was in a kind of low place in my life and I was feeling kind of down and confused about everything," Martin revealed Monday during an interview with Australian radio show Rove & Sam. "Some friends gave me a book called Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl and a poem called The Guest House by Rumi, who was an Afghanistani poet, well, kind of a teacher, and those two things started me off on this whole journey that's ended up a few years later now where I just feel so happy to be alive. I know that might sound a little simple, but I suddenly feel very grateful for all these things that are in my life, I just feel happy to be alive and if it's coming across then that's because it's real."

Martin did refer to the split a bit more specifically, the Irish Independent notes: "I went through some big changes. Everyone knows about them," he said. "[The split allowed me to] figure out where I've gone wrong in my way of looking at the world." (Paltrow and Martin were spotted hugging and kissing as recently as September.)
