Those darn hairy buffalo drinks will do it every time. That's what a Minnesota man claims his wife imbibed before she went over the edge during a domestic quarrel that resulted in part of his ear getting bit off—all because of a fight over a beer, the St. Cloud Times reports. Police in St. Cloud responded to a domestic assault call on Friday night, and while conversing with Jamie Elrod, 37, and her spouse (referred to as "JDE" in the criminal complaint cited by BringMeTheNews.com), they noticed the husband had a laceration on his right ear and part of it was, well … missing. The cops also noted that there was blood in the kitchen, as well as some "spattered on the wall" in a bedroom, along with "a piece of an ear on the ground."
JDE eventually admitted that he and his wife had been arguing over a beer, and that she had been drinking a concoction known as a hairy buffalo before the incident and that "she gets out of hand when she has those." Elrod, who appeared intoxicated to the officers, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, the Times notes. Although she denied to police knowing what had happened to her husband's ear, a review of recorded jail phone calls made by Elrod to someone she called "Mom" nailed Elrod admitting to biting off JDE's ear in the bedroom and asking the woman on the other end to contact JDE to make sure he didn't talk to the authorities. (This happens more than you might think.)
