Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels (not McDonald's) is demanding an apology after comments made by NYPD commissioner William Bratton following a fatal shooting at a TI concert this week, the Hill reports. Bratton blamed the shooting on "the crazy world of the so-called rap artists who are basically thugs that basically celebrate the violence that they live all their lives." According to the AP, McDaniels took offense to that characterization. "There's a million rappers who come from the hood who do not portray, promote, or produce products that celebrate or legitimize any forms of negativity," he says. He gives Chuck D, Kendrick Lamar, LL Cool J, De La Soul, and more as examples. "He needs to apologize to all the rappers who have come from (the) streets but have never put out anything negative (and) disrespectful to break down...and destroy their community," McDaniels says. Rapper Troy Ave was arrested in connection with the shooting. (More Run-DMC stories.)
