When Game of Thrones comes back for seasons seven and eight on HBO, its stars will be paid handsomely for it. (We are about to say which stars, so stop reading if you want to stay pure and spoiler-free.) Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) will each get $500,000 or more per episode for season seven (the next one). Ditto for season eight, which is not officially confirmed but almost certainly a sure thing and which could be the last season of the show. The raises will make them some of the highest-paid actors on cable TV, per the Hollywood Reporter.
The five actors had been making $300,000 per episode for the current season, season six, per Deadline. Both sites note that the raises do not guarantee all five characters will survive to the end of the show, but ScreenRant notes that the raises do seem to indicate they'll at least survive Sunday's season finale. Contracts for other major cast members have not yet been finalized. (More Game of Thrones stories.)
