It appears it will take more than a bunch of racists to keep Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones off social media. The New York Daily News reports Jones quit Twitter "with tears and a sad heart" this week after what she describes as a barrage of "evil" tweets directed at her. Twitter users, apparently still upset that women were cast in Ghostbusters, sent sexist comments, racial slurs, photos of apes, and worse to Jones. But on Thursday, the SNL cast member announced she was back because "who else is gonna live tweet Game of Thrones."
Following her return to Twitter, Jones thanked everyone for the "love and support I received," Mashable reports. Twitter, which shut down several accounts in response to the attack on Jones, welcomed her back personally, tweeting "#LoveforLeslieJ." Among the accounts shut down by Twitter was one belonging to Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos, who received a permanent ban from the site. Twitter says it will do more to protect users from harassment in the future, though it's promised that before. (More Leslie Jones stories.)
