(AP Photo/Elise Amendola) Rutgers advanced to the round of eight in the NCAA women's tournament with a 53-42 victory over George Washington, reports AP. Essence Carson scored 25 points to lead the Scarlet Knights and set up a rubber match with Big East rival Connecticut, with whom Rutgers split two games earlier this season. The winner gets a trip to the Final Four. The Colonials, crushed by Rutgers earlier this season, hung tough this time, closing to within four points with four minutes remaining, but then allowing a jumper and free throw to Carson and never getting closer. GW, which hasn't advanced past the Sweet 16 since 1997, was led by Jessica Adair's 16 points. Rutgers now seeks its second straight national semifinal berth.
