Sports / fantasy sports Big Whiffers Bargains For Fantasy Owners Guys like Dunn, Howard will put up the points despite Ks By Mike Buss, Newser Staff Posted Apr 7, 2008 9:57 PM CDT Copied Boston Red Sox David Ortiz, right, and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Russell Martin follow Ortiz's foul ball to the right field pole at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles Friday, March 28, 2007. (AP Photo/Kevork Djansezian) Sometimes a fantasy baseball owner must take the good with the bad, meaning you're going to have to live with a lot of strikeouts if you want the big power guys in your league. Take Philly's Ryan Howard: he's got 380 whiffs but 105 homers in the last two seasons, so that's actually a pretty good trade-off, writes The Sporting News. Many owners may discard these sluggers because of all the K's, but that's where a shrewd shopper can get a bargain. Another example is Adam Dunn. He may swing and miss a lot but he's also the only guy with 40+ homers the last four years; not even ARod's done that. TSN also recommends watching rising star David Murphy of Texas.
