Sean Spicer got so many texts Sunday morning on his way out of church, "I thought there was either a national emergency or something really funny happened, and it turns out it was that clip from Saturday Night Live" in which Melissa McCarthy played him, the White House press secretary told Extra TV on Sunday night. Spicer's only critique of the skit was that McCarthy shoved too many pieces of gum in her mouth at once, which he noted while laughing. He was less pleased, however, with Alec Baldwin's return as President Trump. "He's gone from funny to mean, and that's unfortunate," Spicer said.
The press secretary, who was speaking to Extra at the Super Bowl, also revealed that Trump was rooting for the Patriots. Spicer was less enthusiastic about McCarthy's SNL skit when talking to Fox & Friends. "It was cute. It's funny. I'd rather us be talking about the issues the president is so committed to helping Americans on, but, it's part of American culture," he said, per the AV Club. (More Sean Spicer stories.)
